You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.
2 Timothy 2:1-2
Get Experience and Training for Ministry
At Rock Hill, we seek to declare, display, and delight in the gospel not only in our time but also in the generations to come. We value multiplication at every level, and we want to entrust what we have learned about life and ministry to future, faithful servants of Christ.
To that end, we’ve developed two career development programs to raise up potential church leaders: the Ministry Internship and the Pastoral Residency.
Ministry Internship
The Ministry Internship is a one-year, part-time paid position for qualified men and women who want to explore the possibility of vocational ministry. Our goal is to provide guidance and experience to those considering a career in ministry.
This role is ideal for someone right out of college or looking to invest in their local church community and seek new options for their future.
Pastoral Residency
The Pastoral Residency is a two-year, full-time paid pastoral position for qualified men who want to be trained in the practical elements of church leadership. Our goal is to equip aspiring pastors to step into vocational ministry with confidence and with spiritual, emotional, and relational health as a foundation for sustainable ministry.
This role is ideal for two kinds of men:
- Those coming from seminary who are looking to transition into pastoral ministry by giving them practical church experience and leadership training
- Those who have been wondering whether to pursue pastoral ministry and are looking for more intentional training and education
What's involved in the internship and residency?

Serve on Our Team (Interns & Residents)
Our staff and elder teams work hard, laugh a lot, and take God seriously but not ourselves. Interns and residents work as members of our staff, participate in leadership meetings, and serve in a variety of areas in the church.

Serve the Church & City (Interns & Residents)
Interns and residents lead in specific ministry areas as they serve one our three campuses. They are given significant responsibility, along with plenty of oversight and coaching to help their development and leadership skills.
Practical Shepherding (Interns & Residents)
Interns and residents work through Practically Trained Pastors, a year-long guide with Scripture readings, books, articles, podcasts, and videos that are aimed at helping you prepare for what ministry is really like.

Preach & Teach Regularly (Residents Only)
We offer pastoral residents the chance to teach and preach in a variety of contexts, from Sunday morning to special services to weddings to funerals to youth group, along with tools to prepare these messages and feedback to reflect on how it went.

Learn to Care & Counsel (Residents Only)
To be a pastor is to be a shepherd, so pastoral residents gain experience in counseling individuals, married couples, and other members of the church who need someone to listen to them and offer them hope.
