Missional Communities do 3 things together: Fellowship, Outreach, and Serve.
Fellowship - this is the place where we act like family. We connect deeply by talking about life. Our desire is that these groups are close enough to share joys, struggles, and even the mundane issues of life. Our desire is that we would be able to to connect in these groups across age gaps, economic gaps, and race gaps in order to show the power of the gospel. The New Testament lists at least 23 one_another_passages that we are to live out in community.
Outreach- we all have friends that we would like to talk with about Jesus. As Christians, we are God’s missionaries into the world to tell people the good news of Jesus Christ. One of the best ways that we can do that is through the power of a transformed community of people. That way, our friends who do not yet know Jesus can meet our friends who do and together we can share with them what Christ has done in our lives. As Missional Communities, we ask that at least one every two months, you kill the agenda and just hang out together and invite others outside of the community in. This happens through game nights, summer BBQs, sharing meals together, maybe even organizing an activity like lawn games or ultimate frisbee. Whatever you do, be intentional to invite others in to see how Jesus changes our relationships.
Serving- As Christians, we are called to not simply share the message of Jesus (the gospel), but also to demonstrate the love of Jesus (through serving, loving, giving, etc.). At least once every two months, we encourage our missional communities to go out and accomplish something together. This might be serving a meal together at the Union Gospel Mission, it might be helping a neighbor roof his house, it might be organizing a game night at the local nursing home. The possibilities are endless. Our desire is that we put feet to our faith and be a blessing to our city in the name of Jesus.
